Do You Have a Secret Desire to Stay the Same?
Your belief that your problems are “E-Special”…
Especially bad…
Especially complex…
Especially tragic…
Especially stupid…
Especially ridiculous..Â
Especially unsolvable…Â
Especially shameful…
Is the same as your desire to live with those problems forever.
If you think that there is any chance that this might apply to you, please: Â take a moment to read that once more and then ponder it for a moment before continuing.Â
People who try to change often fail to do so because they fail to realize that there exists within them a desire to stay the same…
And they fail to recognize this fact because they don’t recognize the desire to stay the same when they see it.
Many people naively imagine that the desire to stay the same manifests in a statement like:
“Oh boy, I sure do love being an anxious, unhappy, miserable wreck who goes around feeling unworthy and inadequate always on the verge of getting into trouble and of being rejected and abandoned forever.”
Of course, that’s not how it actually works...
That would be a little bit like a conman wearing a name tag that listed his profession as a conman, a bank robber posting his name and occupation and past accomplishments on LinkedIn, etc.Â
Your hidden desires to remain exactly as you are…Â
Including when your surface mind is absolutely convinced that you are 100% committed to change and adamantly innocent of any desire to remain the same…
Are often cleverly disguised as objective assessments, realistic appraisals, honest self-evaluation, etc.
It is your credulous acceptance of these parts…
Which acceptance is due to your failure to recognize them for what they are…
That allows them to keep you imprisoned in a dungeon of unwanted, dreary sameness when you might otherwise be living in a verdant pasture of happy change.
Join us this Sunday 8/17 at 4pm PDT for another amazing and totally free workshop to discover how you can learn to recognize these hidden enemies dwelling within your own mental household…
And banish them once and for all.
Space is limited, register now and show up early!
If you can't make it live the replay will be available for one week following the class.Â
See you there!
